Motor Option

Heavy Duty Motor and Gearbox Observatory Roof Drive System. Our motors come in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1.0 horse power sizes. Depending on the size of the observatory that you order. We use a rack and pinion design which produces the greatest amount of torque for moving roofs. Also, our motor drive is mounted in the center of the observatory back wall, instead of on the side of the observatory. This motor position is best, since the roof can me moved evenly, and provides the motor with the best mechanical advantage. This Heavy Duty Motor and Gearbox Observatory Roof Drive System can be used with any roll off roof observatory, not just ours.

Observatory Control 3.0
Part#: TS3-OCS
This new software and hardware package boasts many features not found in other observatory automation packages. One main feature is to be able to control either remotely or in the observatory itself, our height adjustable telescope pier. You will be able to raise or lower the pier as part of your observing session automation routine. Our controller hosts stored configuration settings and a microprocessor that can automatically open (or close) the observatory at a specific time or signal (e.g.: cloud sensor) – enabling unattended-automated control of your roll off roof observatory without the need of a pc. The cloud sensor can execute an automated routine consisting of pier down, close roof or open roof, pier up, all with feedback from the position limit switches on the roof and pier. This routine can also be activated from popular observatory control packages such as ACP

Pier-Tech 2 is an electro-mechanical telescope pier. It is designed for the observer who wishes to raise and lower the pier by a push of a button. To operate the Pier-Tech 2, just plug it into a standard 120V outlet, push the up or down button on the supplied hand held pendant to raise or lower the pier. The pier has 20 inches of precision vertical adjustment keeping your telescope polar aligned and level.

Pier-Tech 3 is similar in construction as the Pier-Tech2 except it can withstand greater bending moments and it has an 800-pound lifting capacity. It is designed for the observer who wishes to raise and lower the telescope pier by a push of a button. Pier-Tech 3 is also great for remote control observatories where the full operation of the observatory is done remotely. The pier can be wired to the observatory's main controller for operation. To operate the Pier-Tech 3, just plug it into a standard 120V outlet and push the up or down button on the supplied hand held pendant to raise or lower the pier. Vibration Isolation For Mounts
Part#: TS3-VI
Our vibration isolation platform is made with special helical isolators, sandwiched between (2) 12x12x1/2 inch aluminum plates. We custom make the vibration isolation platform for your mount and telescope weight. The number of helical isolators used, depends on the weight of your telescope mount and telescope combined. There is a range of weight that the vibration isolation will accept. Because its custom designed for your particular telescope and mount, doesn’t mean that the same vibration isolation platform will not apply to other telescope and mount arrangements. Please specify what type of telescope and mount arrangement the platform should be designed for, and possible future telescope and mount arrangements. In some cases adding or removing helical isolators to the same platform will make it suitable for other telescope and mount arrangements.
